City of Houston selects Cityspan to support the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program
The City of Houston has selected Cityspan to develop a digital platform to manage Hire Houston Youth, the City’s innovative Summer Youth Employment Program. The initiative was launched by Mayor Sylvester Turner in 2016 and is designed to engage youth in job-readiness training, paid internships and employment opportunities. Cross-sector partnerships between city departments, local nonprofits and private sector employers will provide jobs to 5,000 youth in summer 2017.
Cityspan's platform for Hire Houston Youth leverages technology that also supports the City of Chicago’s One Summer Chicago initiative. Features include a mobile-adaptive online application for youth, a job locator tool, and matching algorithms that connect qualified youth to employment opportunities. Using customized dashboards, staff will be able to assess progress towards the City's goals to develop a skilled workforce and provide long-term career opportunities for youth.
